Developed in the 1960s by Matt Jetton and Sunstate Builders, Original Carrollwood is one of the earliest planned communities in Hillsborough County. More than 50 years after breaking ground, many of our residents are original owners having bought a home during a time when moving to Carrollwood from central or south Tampa merited a “going away” party. Today, our neighborhood is centrally located giving residents easy access to I-275, the Veterans Expressway, entertainment and some of Hillsborough County’s best schools.

Original Carrollwood comprises 925 properties, boasting charming homes with a wide array of architectural styles, sidewalks, old-growth shade trees, two private parks and access to beautiful Lake Carroll—a combination of features and amenities that add value and appeal to our neighborhood.

With many longstanding, old-fashioned traditions, Original Carrollwood is all about making holidays fun with events like our annual Easter Egg Hunt, July 4th ski show and cookout at White Sands Beach, a Kid’s Halloween Parade, the lighting of luminaries on Christmas Eve and our newly established Fireworks at White Sand’s Beach on New Year’s Eve.

All residents have access to the Rec Center — a hub for community activities and events — as well as to Lake Carroll for boating, swimming and fishing.

Since 1960, Original Carrollwood has enjoyed reading our monthly newsletter, The Caroler, which is delivered to each residence. The Caroler provides news you can use on neighborhood events, and on the efforts of the CCA and CRD boards that serve our neighborhood and maintain our public areas.

If you are new to the neighborhood, let me know. I will make sure you get an Original Carrollwood Neighborhood Directory along with a Welcome Packet. I’m also happy to answer any questions you may have. To make sure you are added correctly to the neighborhood directory, click here.

On behalf of the CCA board, please allow me to welcome you to the neighborhood.
