Our neighborhood is one of the earliest planned communities in Hillsborough County, developed in the 1960's by Matt Jetton, owner of Sunstate Builders. Even today, many residents are original owners having bought a home here during a time when moving to Carrollwood from central or south Tampa merited a "going away" party. Now we enjoy easy access to I-275, the Veterans Expressway and many four & six lane highways to bring us to and from our workplaces and shopping and visiting.
Original Carrollwood comprises 931 households and boasts charming homes, sidewalks, shade trees, lake breezes and a real pride of ownership - a combination of features that continues to add value to our neighborhood each year.
All our residents have access to Lake Carroll for boating, swimming and fishing. Numerous activities are offered at the Rec Center which is also a hub for many community events. Holidays are wonderful times in the neighborhood. Our calendar is full of old-fashioned, fun events which have continued in our community for many years. We look forward to meeting you and your family at any of them.
The Caroler, our newsletter is delivered monthly to each residence. It updates residents on the efforts of the CCA and CRD boards that serve our neighborhood and maintain our public areas. Read The Caroler to keep up-to-date on all the activities and opportunities that living here can bring.
