Our neighborhood is one of the earliest planned communities in Hillsborough County, developed in the 1960's by Matt Jetton, owner of Sunstate Builders. Even today, many residents are original owners having bought a home here during a time when moving to Carrollwood from central or south Tampa merited a "going away" party. Original Carrollwood comprises 931 households and boasts charming homes, sidewalks, shade trees, lake breezes and a real pride of ownership.
All our residents have access to Lake Carroll for boating, swimming and fishing. Numerous activities are offered at the Rec Center which is also a hub for many community events. Holidays are wonderful times in the neighborhood. Our calendar is full of old-fashioned, fun events which have been a tradition in our community for many years.
